Deputy Director, Contra Costa County

Kristi is the Deputy Director for Contra Costa County at EBASE. She is currently leading EBASE’s housing justice work Contra Costa County. She convenes the Raise the Roof Coalition, a coalition of community, labor, and faith organizations working to ensure that low-wage workers have a safe and affordable place to raise their families with dignity. She helps guide EBASE’s tenant organizing to build the power and agency of low-income immigrant tenants to shape the solutions they need and the future they deserve.  Kristi serves on the steering committee of Lift Up Contra Costa Action that helps support grassroots, community-based, leaders of color to hold office and commissions in Contra Costa and build a more equitable and inclusive County.

Kristi has been involved in Bay Area economic and social justice campaigns and faith-rooted organizing for over twenty years. She worked at the Volunteer Legal Services Program, creating mentoring and job-training programs for low-income women. At Global Exchange, an activist human rights organization, she worked in solidarity with Afghan community in the wake of 9/11 and the US bombing campaign. For eight years, she organized faith leaders and communities in accompanying low-wage workers and immigrants in their struggles for dignity and justice as part of FAME, the faith network of EBASE. Kristi has her masters from the Graduate Theological Union and is a lay associate of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. She lives in a Oakland co-housing community with her husband and son. She derives great joy from drinking cappuccinos, hiking in the redwoods and participating in her spiritual book-club.
