In support of its mission, EBASE seeks an experienced and strategically inclined Director of Policy and Research to oversee research and policy analysis and development to support EBASE’s local campaigns, coordinate EBASE’s positions and advocacy on statewide policy, and supervise research staff and interns. EBASE conducts research that exposes patterns of injustice and promotes solutions; that develops policies as solutions to these problems and that supports the strategy and implementation of campaigns. The Director of Policy and Research will partner with Campaign Teams to identify policy and research priorities to advance local campaigns and coordinate EBASE’s advocacy on statewide policy and connect EBASE’s statewide advocacy to local campaigns and issues. The Director will be responsible for maintaining up-to-date analysis and knowledge on policy debates relevant to EBASE’s work, including policies to improve job quality and access to good jobs, labor standards enforcement, tenant protections and housing justice, immigration protections, and local budget analysis to support defunding law enforcement and investing in community services. The Director of Policy and Research may lead policy and research staff and reports to the Executive Director.



In support of its mission, EBASE seeks an experienced and strategically inclined Oakland Campaign Director to work with coalition partners to drive campaigns that build the leadership of community residents and low wage workers to secure community benefits agreements, lift up communities of color, and improve job quality in key sectors. The Campaign Director will lead EBASE’s internal Oakland team, coordinate the coalition steering committee(s), build consensus among partners on campaign strategy, and coordinate all aspects of campaigns. The Campaign Director will coordinate a range of strategies utilized in these campaigns, including policy development, media & strategic communications, civic engagement, leadership development, faith-rooted organizing, corporate research, and negotiations. The Campaign Director will support fundraising efforts and organization-wide priorities and may lead researchers, organizers, interns, volunteers, and consultants as needed.

This position is responsible for managing EBASE’s Oakland economic and racial justice campaigns and will report directly to the Deputy Director of Campaigns. The Campaign Director will be a public leader and strategic thinker who is able to build meaningful relationships with a variety of constituencies and models EBASE’s values and culture. The Oakland Campaign Director position is shared with East Bay Action, a separate 501c4 organization.



In support of their missions, EBASE and East Bay Action seek an experienced and strategically inclined Political Director to lead political power-building strategies including electoral organizing, voter outreach, and candidate endorsement efforts. The Political Director will work closely with EBASE’s Oakland and Contra Costa campaign teams to execute civic engagement activities that advance our local campaigns for worker justice, tenant rights, equitable development, moral budgets, and racial justice. The Political Director will coordinate with community and labor allies to strengthen alignment and maximize opportunities and will engage with civic engagement organizations locally, regionally, and statewide. S/He/They will supervise canvass teams and develop the electoral skills of EBASE and EBA staff towards increasing organizational capacity. This position is part of the organization’s senior leadership and will report to the Executive Director. The Director will be a strategic campaigner who is rooted in movement building, committed to racial justice and able to build meaningful relationships with a variety of constituencies to move a shared, successful program.

EBASE and East Bay Action work in tandem to advance activities in support of shared goals. This position is shared between the two organizations.



The Faith-Rooted Organizer will work with the Director of the FAME Initiative and EBASE Oakland campaign staff to engage and organize faith leaders and communities in support of the Oakland campaigns. The Faith-Rooted Organizer will support EBASE’s campaigns and projects for workers’ rights, equitable development, moral budgets, immigrant rights, tenant protections, and economic and racial justice by building committees of faith leaders; collaborating with unions, workers, and community groups; and helping develop and execute faith-rooted strategies and tactics. The Faith-Rooted Organizer reports to the Director of the FAME Initiative and is a full-time position.
