Rent Review Mediation Program – An Ineffective Distraction
On Tuesday, November 27, 2018, the City Council will hear a report of the Rent Mediation Review program, which has proven ineffectual.
At an estimated annual cost of $132,000, the program has only served 25 people in 15 months of operation – and because the program is non-binding, many still saw their rents increase.
EBASE and our community partners are calling for real tenant protections like rent control and just cause for evictions policies, so that families are not thrown out of their homes for no reason.
