On October 15th, over 350 people poured into the Emeryville Hilton Garden Inn's "Top of the Bay" room to celebrate EBASE's 10 years of fighting for working families. We were moved by the electric energy in the air, as workers, union leaders, community members, faith leaders, and elected officials struck up dynamic conversations from corner to corner. With a beautiful benediction, a creative play that envisioned the transformative impact EBASE's work could have by the year 2049, heart-felt awards to five visionary bridge-builders of EBASE, a powerful keynote by Green for All CEO Phaedra Ellis-Lamkins, testimony from the courageous Ricky Lau about the fight for justice from NBC general contractors, and a closing video message from US Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis, our program offered many moments of inspiration that will help move our work forward.
Over the next ten years, with your help, EBASE will strengthen the bridges we've built between truck drivers and environmentalists, immigrant workers and congregants, and residents and workers. Together, we can overcome the current crisis and make the economy work for working people.
There are two simple things you can do right now:
- Please take moment to watch and share this video tribute to three of EBASE's founders, so that we can spread the word about our work. If you have a facebook account, please post it.
- If you haven't had a chance to donate to EBASE yet, please make a donation of any size today.
And last, but by no means least, we'd like to recognize the generous sponsors of "Building Powerful Bridges: Community, Faith, and Labor for a Just Economy".
