OAKLAND, CA (KGO) --
Hundreds of people from the Bay Area are preparing to leave tomorrow to
attend this weekend's protest in phoenix against Arizona's new
immigration law.
Six Bay Area African-American clergy leaders will be part of the march taking place on Saturday.
The group held a send-off blessing on Thursday, where they vowed to
stand together with the Latino community to fight what they say is an
oppressive law.
"We don't need laws that separate us. We don't
need laws that federalize out police forces, making all of our
communities less safe. What we need to do is to come together and find
reasonable solutions to very real problems," B.K. Woodson, Sr. from Bay
Area Christian Connection said.
The clergy leaders say the law
will increase racial profiling, which they say is already a major
problem along the U.S.-Mexico border.
